Physical Education
Middle school Physical Education / Health develops a healthy physical lifestyle through exploration of movement and participation in individual and team activities. Our goal is to promote a positive self-image, appropriate social behaviors in both independent and group activities, and develop the basic components of lifetime health and fitness.
Ecker Hill International Middle School is an authorized International Baccalaureate World School. In the Physical Education department the IB Middle Years Program grading criteria is used: Criterion A - Knowledge and Understanding, Criterion B - Movement Composition, Criterion C - Performance / Application, Criterion D - Social Skills, Criterion E - Personal Engagement. These criterion are then transfered into the following categories for grading:
6th Grade - Physical Education / Health
50% - Participation / Activity
20% - Physical Education Written Work
30% - Health
7th Grade - Physical Education
65% - Participation / Activity
35% - Physical Education Written Work
