Emergency Reunification Drill
Emergency Reunification Drill
Friday, June 1, 2012 (2:15-3:40 p.m.) @ Ecker Hill Middle School
Ecker Hill Middle School will be conducting an emergency reunification drill on Friday, June 1, 2012, from 2:15 to 3:40 p.m. Students will practice evacuating the building, reunifying in a central location (Ecker Hill gymnasium), and being released to a parent/guardian. Parents must have a valid photo identification card to pick up their children at the Ecker Hill gymnasium. The drill will end at 3:40 p.m. and remaining students will be released from school.
In an emergency situation, reunification and releasing students to parents may be necessary if the building, or parts of the building, is unsafe. The purpose of this exercise is to practice and evaluate the procedures in place for such an event.
Other details about the drill on June 1st:
• Parents can start picking up their children at 2:30 p.m.
• Parents will be able to pick up their children at the outside doors of the school’s gymnasium; the rest of the school will be closed.
• Children will only be released to a parent or guardian with a valid picture identification card.
• The drill will end at 3:40 p.m. and all remaining children will be released from school.
• For those who are bus eligible, school buses will be available at their normal time.
If you have questions concerning this exercise, please contact John Hall, Assistant Principal at Ecker Hill Middle School, at 645-5610. We appreciate your support in helping us evaluate our safety/emergency procedures.

Hello Spelling Bee Enthusiasts
We are excited to announce The Park Record Spelling Bee
will be on Thursday, May 17th, 2012 at the Egyptian Theater in Park City. Download the complete flyer
or read on.
There will be a 2nd/3rd grade Bee, a 4th/5th grade Bee and 6th/7th grade Bee this year. As in previous years, word lists will be provided prior to the Bee (about May 10th) so students can study. The word list will be large and a subset of these will be used during the Bee; they’ll be more challenging so we do not run out of words and can keep the Bee flowing more quickly.
The qualification process for the Park Record Bee will be the same as last year, a written spelling test open to students in Summit and Wasatch Counties. This qualification test will be administered with no previous exposure to the word list and will be given at "test centers” on April 19th. Test centers will be published by each participating school as well as printed in the Park Record. It is preferred that a student takes the test at the school he/she attends, but if that is not possible or they go to a school that does not have a test center, than a student may take the test at any of the other test centers. Students who are eligible to participate must live in Summit or Wasatch County or go to school in Summit or Wasatch County. The top 20-25 in each bee level will be invited to participate in the Park Record Spelling Bee.
